Time
I am sitting here watching my kitty, Ali, chasing a fly that is on the outside of the window.
No matter how hard she bats and jumps at it, she is not going to catch it.
This reminded me of how many times in the past, I have chased something trying to make it happen.
I have wasted years of energy and time trying to get soemthing to happen that was never supposed to.
Like Ali chasing that fly on the outside of the window, I have banged my head into brick walls, being trapped there until it was to painful to continue, and then I would see the uselessness of the whole situation and make a change.
Time is precious and there is to little of it.

some people keep batting at the fly
This is very true and it can be a devastating realization that the fly will never be yours. You have the capacity to conclude and move forward to make a positive change---that is an extremely admirable attribute and I do certainly admire you.
isn't this the truth.
what if I am the fly? that would mean I'm TOTALLY clueless. ha! which is how I feel at times. doesn't even know the monster cat is batting at it just a centimeter away.

I'm certainly guilty of wasting so much precious time wanting something and not appreciating the moment.
One day I'll learn to quit batting at flies.....I hope.
