Halloween Story Monster tree
For @saintvi
Walking up the dark road at night
with full moon shining bright
I hear it walk close behind
and I am terrified out of my mind.
I call out to it and ask who are you.
All I hear is you will taste good in my stew.
I must hide and see this spot
hoping this is not part of the monster plot.
I run through the woods in total fear
hearing it's footsteps coming way to near.
I trip and fall and can not get to mt feet
and I hear it say as it is running after me that I will be good to eat.
As I fall for the final time and lay there in the night
I find in my pocket a small flash light.
I shine it at the monster whose dinner would be me
and the light turns it into a monster tree.

That is one terrifying Monster
now that's a truly scary tree and a great poem!!!!
Ooh -- that's a wonderful poem, Ruth, and a magnificent tree to illustrate it! (or is it the other way around?) Anyway -- the Peninsula has some magnificent forests, and you found the perfect tree!
Hells Bells Ruth!!!!
Cool and creepy! There is a tree in a state park near me that has a growth on the trunk that looks just like a buffalo. So I've been told, anyway. Someday I'm going to hike out to see it.
Gotta watch out for those monster trees. I don't know who started the rumor that trees couldn't walk. Geez....anyone with common sense knows about Ents.
