An Aberdeen Animal Control officer found a dead shark this morning near the boat landing on the Wishkah River.
Aberdeen Police Chief Bob Torgerson responded to the call to check out the sight, describing a 12-foot-long thresher shark that looked like it was recently deceased. Torgerson said officers received calls about the shark being along the river, but the calls weren’t clear if the shark was alive or dead.
They found it dead on land near the boat landing. Torgerson took a photo with his cell phone and sent it to The Daily World.
“We don’t know where it came from, whether it was in the river or someone just dumped it here,” Torgerson said. “I have to say it’s weird to see a shark in Aberdeen.”
